What Is a PSID and How to Pay Government Fees Online

If you have applied for a PPSC, SPSC or other commission job, you have probably seen the instruction “generate a PSID and pay the fee”. Many first-time applicants find this step confusing. This guide explains what a PSID is, how it is used to pay government fees online and how to avoid common mistakes.

What is a PSID?

A PSID is a unique payment number that an official online system generates for one specific payment, such as a job application fee. When you pay using that number, the system knows which fee you are paying and credits it to the correct government account. The PSID is tied to your application, so you should not share it or reuse it for someone else.

Where is it used?

How to pay a PSID, step by step

  1. Complete your application form on the official website of the commission. Use only the official site, as warned in how to spot a fake job advertisement.
  2. Generate the PSID when the system asks for fee payment. Note down the number and the amount shown.
  3. Choose a payment channel. The advertisements name channels such as ATMs, internet banking, mobile banking, a 1Link member bank branch, JazzCash and Easypaisa. Check the advertisement or website for the channels allowed for your application.
  4. Enter the PSID carefully in the “bill payment” or “government payment” section of your bank or wallet app and confirm the amount and the organisation name.
  5. Save the receipt as a screenshot or printout, together with the transaction ID.
  6. Return to the application and check whether the payment status has been updated. If it does not update immediately, wait and check again later before paying a second time.

Common mistakes

  • Paying at the last minute, when websites and banks are busy
  • Typing a digit wrongly in the PSID
  • Paying a different amount from the one shown
  • Paying through an unofficial person or shop that demands extra money
  • Deleting the receipt before the application is accepted

What if my payment is not showing?

Keep your transaction ID and receipt, wait a short time and refresh. If the problem continues, contact the helpline or support email listed on the commission’s official website and send the screenshot. Do not pay again unless the official site tells you the first payment failed.

Frequently asked questions

Is a PSID the same as a challan?

It serves a similar purpose. Instead of a paper challan, the PSID lets you pay online and have the payment matched automatically.

Does the fee change from job to job?

Yes. Check the advertisement for the amount. For example, SPSC’s Advertisement 05/2026 states a fee of Rs 500.

Is the fee refundable?

Usually not. Commission advertisements often describe the fee as non-refundable, so check the instructions before paying.
